Christmas in July Purple Pumpkin share

Hi Everyone,

Seriously, August already, what is going on here!!  Someone said to me just the other day, oh look, 5 months until Christmas!! Boy did she get a look! Eeeep!!

Now you will all know just how much I love my Purple Pumpkin and it is nothing for me to use one or two buttons on a page well, today's has a  total of 5 buttons on it!

I've mixed the spotty button with a floral print and mixed and matched the white and red and see the large red flower there, yummy Manor House.

I've used them to complete my flower clusters and the heart button (below) I used to balance out the layout and feature near my title.

and here is the full layout.  This one was taken a few Christmas's ago now, 2008.   I know, I'm a bit behind - I get nervous scrapping Christmas for some reason.  I think it's the pressure of choosing one or two shots to capture such an important day and doing them justice, showing them off but not loosing the thoughts and ideas behind them.... maybe that's why I am more of an "everyday moment" scrapper rather than an "event" scrapper... anywho... I digress...

Here is the full layout :)

Thanks again for popping by and a special thank you to all you lovelies who share some love, you all know it means so much :)

A little bit Vintage - Purple Pumpkin share

Well hello there,

A quick little post today to share a couple of projects I have created recently using Purple Pumpkin goodies.

See the cute lil pattern button sneaking out from my flower cluster?  It was the perfect touch for my layout...  AND, that delicious peach beauty, that is a Manor House stunner!!

A couple more close ups...

and here is it the full version.... Caitlin as a flower girl at my Nieces wedding.  She had the best day....and yes, that is me too in the pic :)  Chris took these photos, clever isn't he!

Flowers are Manor House and Kaiser.  I have just dipped in Gesso.  The banner and butterflies are 'A Lil Something' which I have inked and sprayed with glimmer mist for some sparkle.

I have also created these 2 cards, featuring the sweet little bird buttons and Craft Queen ribbon, how stunning is this!

Thanks for popping by, be back soon!

Yummy Scrap Colour Pallet #3 at Scrap Friends

Time for a new Yummy Scrap pallet over at Scrap Friends and this one is a stunner!!

I couldn't resist creating 2 for this one, such soft pretty colours; right up my alley!!

First up is my 2nd ever canvas!! (some of you will remember the one I did for a friend who recently had a baby - I think this one is way better so will have to make her another one!!).  I wanted to create a pale version of the pallet, something very neutral and soft.   This one is for me and is already proudly on display in my craft space - my room is coming along now and I really should take some pics for you all!!

and the second project was a layout of me... I've been doing a few of these lately - the colour version is more vibrant but still nice and soft AND, my first project photographed with my new light box...fancy aren't I!!!  (I'm very happy with the set up by the way so lots of close ups)

I will also be doing a step by step over on the Scrap Friends blog soon to show you how I created this one so be sure to stalk the blog! hehehe

Hope you all get the chance to play along... I do love seeing what you all create when I pop by your blogs!

Purple Pumpkin Share

Brrrrr!! Super cold here on the Sunny Gold Coast this morning, I think I'll have to type a lot to keep my fingers warm!!

A quick share today of some yummy Purple Pumpkin inspiration up on the blog.

Close ups first...

Just love the shade of Pink in this kit...

and how cute is that lil owl and the satin lollipop flower - yummo!!

I have used the fab Owl kit from the last sale, love love love the combo of the pink and green.  I teamed it with some warm browns and neutrals from my stash and I was done.  I love kits for this very reason!!

This photo was taken at Southbank in January this year.  You all will remember in January of 2011 Brisbane city, and much of Queensland for that matter, flooded.  So, earlier this year we decided to take a trip up to Brisbane to see how the city was recovering one year later.  It was great to get out of the house, support some local businesses doing it tough and take a stack of nice shots.

Thanks for popping by today, hope you all have a great day!

July sketch for Purple Pumpkin

Hi Everyone,

Well the July sketch is up now over at Purple Pumpkin and today I thought I'd share what I created.

First the sketch...

and then close ups, lots of bits and pieces here.  The fabric round flower is Purple Pumpkin and I've mixed up the button in the centre with a pretty blue one I found at Spotlight in a bargain bin.  I just love digging in that place!!

The felt flowers I made with a new die I have by Memory Box, you can pick these up at Scrap Friends (This one is Pinwheel Posie) and the flowers are Manor house and A Lil Somethin.

See the cute lil kite in the back ground... teamed with Purple Pumpkin twine.

A purple pumpkin bee button...  there is also a cute lil bunny button which you will see on the full layout.

Just to show you the layers.... I just love dimension!

and now the full layout...

and something different, hand cut photos... she was such a cutie this day... Easter Sunday at Nanna's house and she was playing the Easter Bunny!!!

Thanks for popping by today, I can't wait to see what you all come up with!!

July sketch for Scrap Friends

Hi Everyone,

It's July and winter is well and truly here.  With all the rain around last week I was certainly happy to snuggle up in my craft room until the wee hours and create.  If you are looking for some inspiration the July sketch challenge is now up at Scrap Friends :)  The winner gets a Scrap Friends voucher!

Here is the sketch - just love the details:

and here is my take.  It features my sister and I.   We don't have very many photos at all together so on Mother's Day this year I made sure Chris took some... we look alike don't we!!

Close ups first with all the pretty details:

and the full layout...

I thought I'd also share a step by step for this layout - I'm going to do more of these for you all. The photos are a bit dark and I'm not that happy with them as they were taken quite late at night - which is when I normally do my scrapping!!  Happy days though, I have just purchased a super dooper light tent!!!  So I can take photos any time of the day or night with more consistent and better results Wooo Hooo!!  Will share more as soon as I can! With this in mind, please note:  The colour in the first shots and close ups is much truer to the layout as I have taken these during the day when there was lots of natural light.

Step One:  Apply a nice thick layer of Gesso mixed with Impasto medium - I love the dimension this adds.

Step Two:  Add some paper layers - I've gone with more of a square shape rather than rectangle as the sketch had square photos.

Step Three:  Add in photos and more paper layers - some fussy cut flowers too.  I've mixed up the sketch a little by switching 2 smaller photos for the one at the top.  I wanted to include both of these happy snaps - my sister and I were messing around which is quite normal for us!

Step Four:  Add all the bits and pieces.. Tags, flowers, brads and butterflies.  I added my title and journalling last.

Hope you enjoy seeing how I put my page together and well done for getting this far!!
