Star Dad

Hello, Hello, Happy day to you!

A Purple Pumpkin share for you today, using one of my most fav colour combos Navy, White and Red, I just love using this combo on boy layouts... I even love it when Chris wears Red and Navy, it so suits him!

Close ups first... yummy Purple pumpkin, flower, button topper and spotty buttons...

A heart button and lollipop flower too....

I sprayed the paper with water then scrunched the top layer of paper up and "shoved" a spotty button underneath, teamed it with a funky brad and a hand cut star from the pattern paper to create this cute cluster.  I've been doing this a bit lately, it makes the layouts more dimensional which is a bit of problem with storage, but I really love the look so I'm rolling with it!!

and the full layout... Super happy because I even took the photo for this one on a recent trip to Mt Tambourine - it is so nice now that Caitlin is a little older and can actually go for a Rainforest walk.  She is pretty good until the walk back up the hill!!

and while I had the red and white out, I whipped up this card too....  I have centred a heart button on top of a washi tape flower I made - I've been doing these a bit too lately, they turn out pretty funky!  Sentiment is a SRM sticker layered ontop of some wide gross-grain ribbon and I made an effort to use one of my embossing folders too!

thanks for popping by today and sharing the love!

Step by Step for Scrap Friends - June

Hi there

Quick share today of a layout and step by step I have done for Scrap Friends which shares some tips on how I use sketches and shows you how I put my pages together.  Pop over to the blog to check it out!  You can also see all the bits and pieces I've used and get them on-line; lots of yummy new Bo Bunny :)

and while I had the left overs on my scrap desk, I whipped up this cute little card.

Ribbon is Scallop Edge Organza with Grossgrain over the top - I think my current fav, I'm putting it on everything right now!!
Sentiment is not a stamp but Collections greetings and Nicole has a stack of Collections stuff in store, these are so quick and easy to use, and fool proof, hence why I like them hehe!

and lucky last a quick layout I did for a little challenge a group some scrappy buddies made up... thank you Miss Annette!  Criteria was "White, with green and pink plus a touch of black"

I have used some delicious Manor House flowers *sigh* love these, and heaps of pretties from Craft Queen.

Only a couple of close ups for this one:

Paper is "Pretty Party" by Crate Paper... so so sweet.  I got a huge kit of it from Scrapbook Savy, and have been itching to have a play.

It was so much fun to do a challenge "just because"; it has been a while.

Hope you are all having a FAB day and get some time to create - I have a late night planned :)

Girly Girl

Happy Friday Everyone!! Woot Woot, My most fav day of the week.

A couple of quick projects to share featuring yummy Purple Pumpkin...

I have "roughed up" my denim and pink flower and added Gesso then switched up the centre button for a spotty button.  I've added some twine and 2 more 1" buttons to round out the cluster.

These heart buttons are so cute, this one I have simply added to the centre of a butterfly to create a feature.

and the full layout, no sun glasses required :)

I also added a cute Purple Pumpkin resin flower to the centre of the 2nd butterfly and the brightest doilies I could find in my stash - these ones are Craft Queen.  I think this has to be the brightest layout I've ever done!!

I also have a quick card to share I created for a dear friend...

Now those are more my colours!! :)

My Everything

Hi Everyone,

A rare layout of my hubby to share today.  He is usually the one behind the camera so when we recently went on a mountain walk and I made a special effort to grab the camera and get a shot of him.

Close ups first...

Ohhh so happy with the background on this layout... I'm not sure if you can see the stickers there under the Gesso - in the photo above they say "love" and "family".
I've had these FOREVER, (like 9 years) and am really trying hard to use up some older stuff and I came up with the idea to stick them down in patches and then Gesso over, and I really like how they turned out. There are some more in the top right hand side cluster as well.

The felt flowers are super old as well, that's 2 new things I can buy at the show!!

and I've been doing this a bit of late - just shoving some twine or ribbon under the photo or paper layer.  Adds another layer and some dimension.

The full layout.. doesn't he look handsome :)

Thanks for visiting and for your comments, they are very much appreciated - I do keep my eyes out for them!!

June sketch for Scrap Friends

Hi there eveyone,

I love how busy the start of the month is with all the new challenges, they are always keeping me inspired!   I am getting super excited as we are only a handfull of sleeps away from the June craft show in Brisbane!!! YEAH!!!

Very excited to share with you the new sketch for Scrap Friends, which is up on the blog now.

For my take, I have flipped it totally upside down.  I loved the idea of having my title on the bottom part of the page and all my embellies coming from the base of my photos.  I have also adjusted it to fit 2 photos, but keeping with the sketch put some pattern paper in place of the 3rd photo.

Close ups - so many yummy goodies here, all available at Scrap Friends.

and the full shot... I just love the colours in this and the back and white photo combo.

Pop on over to the blog and say Hi, check out the other DT inspiration and why not give it a go :)

June sketch at Purple Pumpkin

Happy 1st of the month to you all - I can't believe it is June!

I've been itching to show you my latest layout using the new challenge sketch for Purple Pumpkin.  The DT have done an amazing job this month to show you just how versatile a sketch can be (They really are a fab bunch) - Be sure to check it out here.

So, this is the sketch:

I flipped it as it better suited my photo - here is my take:

and some close ups...

While the design for the layout was certainly inspired by the sketch, the colours were inspired by the fab large flower and I thought I'd share today a lil tutorial on how I alter them for my layouts.... Please do not mind the photos, those that know me will know I scrap between 8pm and midnight so they are not the best "colour" wise.

Step One - Choose your flower, I just love the Red and Navy combo.  I tired to show you in this photo just how flat they are before beginning.

Step Two - Time to get rough.... Start by gently roughing up and fraying the edges of the petals, I also scrunch the whole flower and roll it between my hands, you have to be gentle but also not afraid to rough it up a little.  I find the less you think about it, the better the result.

Step Three - Grab a little Gesso and dab on the edges of the flower.  I also like to put some into the palm of my hand and then scrunch the flower into it  - you want an uneven coverage... This bit is messy but fun!

and lucky last, to finish it off, I swapped up the centre button for a small Purple Pumpkin spotty button.

and voilĂ  there you have it!

I hope you all get the chance to play along this month, the winner gets a fab PP prize pack!
