June sketch at Purple Pumpkin

Happy 1st of the month to you all - I can't believe it is June!

I've been itching to show you my latest layout using the new challenge sketch for Purple Pumpkin.  The DT have done an amazing job this month to show you just how versatile a sketch can be (They really are a fab bunch) - Be sure to check it out here.

So, this is the sketch:

I flipped it as it better suited my photo - here is my take:

and some close ups...

While the design for the layout was certainly inspired by the sketch, the colours were inspired by the fab large flower and I thought I'd share today a lil tutorial on how I alter them for my layouts.... Please do not mind the photos, those that know me will know I scrap between 8pm and midnight so they are not the best "colour" wise.

Step One - Choose your flower, I just love the Red and Navy combo.  I tired to show you in this photo just how flat they are before beginning.

Step Two - Time to get rough.... Start by gently roughing up and fraying the edges of the petals, I also scrunch the whole flower and roll it between my hands, you have to be gentle but also not afraid to rough it up a little.  I find the less you think about it, the better the result.

Step Three - Grab a little Gesso and dab on the edges of the flower.  I also like to put some into the palm of my hand and then scrunch the flower into it  - you want an uneven coverage... This bit is messy but fun!

and lucky last, to finish it off, I swapped up the centre button for a small Purple Pumpkin spotty button.

and voilĂ  there you have it!

I hope you all get the chance to play along this month, the winner gets a fab PP prize pack!

Journal

Hi Everyone,

So, I've done absolutely no scrapping this weekend but I have spent a heap of time cataloguing and going through my stash :)  With the craft show just 2 weeks away I needed a way to track what I have and what I don't in a way I can easily reference and take to the show with me...

So I picked up this pretty Journal

And inside: I used the sections to record different things... I also broke down each section into colours.

Neutral glimmer mists... Cut a square of 2x2 white Bazzill and sprayed then labelled.

This is Kaiser paint... cut out circles of white Bazzill and just put a splodge on each - then recorded the name next to it.

Blue shades of Kaiser....

and Washi tape... pinks and reds.  High of my list for the show to get more of.

I have also listed out my Sizzix dies and their numbers and punched all my punches onto paper and stuck in. (Sorry forgot to take a pic of that bit)

I sorted the punches just into 2 categories, "Martha Stewart" and "NOT Martha Stewart" :)

Now that I have spent the time setting it all up, I think it will be easy to maintain and I know what I have and what I don't :)

Time well spent I think...

More Purple Pumpkin goodies...

Good Morning everyone,

How are we all feeling after the Purple Pumpkin sale?  I hope you all grabbed some new goodies.

I have a layout to share with you today featuring lots of yummy Purple Pumpkin details... which has also gone up on their blog.

Close ups first as I know you all love them!

Spotty buttons here and there... these would be my most used Purple Pumpkin buttons, love them!
Also lots of fussy cutting for this layout.

Twine and a Round cork and vinyl flower forms the base of my cluster.
How cute is that lil resin flower, I forgot where it's from but I'm going to have to find out, as I have only one left!!

Love the Purple pumpkin hearts and the felt clouds I picked up a while back. The bow is Martha Stewart I picked up in a big pack of like 50 for $1 on sale at Spotlight.

And here is the full layout... so proud of my little miss, Student of the week in week 7 of her school year and it was for being a responsible and kind class member... she was so proud of herself too :)

I have done absolutely no scrapping this weekend, not one bit!  But I have worked on a little "project" which I'll share soon.

A New layout for Craft Queen

Hi there everyone,

I have always admired others monochromatic layouts and for ages and ages I have wanted to do one, so I finally did :)  It all started with these left over chipboard letters I had which I decided were way to large to ever be part of a title and then there were some that were different (not nice) colours and I thought I'm never going to use these up... until, brain wave... paint them with gesso (so they are a nice bright white and they look the same) and finally do that white monochromatic layout you always wanted to!!

and close ups...

Super happy with how this turned out!!

Craft Queen goodies:
Cob Web Ribbon
Crochet Flower
and
Kaiser Pearls

Flowers are Prima and Scrap Friends and the little ones I have no idea of sorry!! :)
Paper is Basic Grey.

The 3 P's...

Hi Everyone,

A layout to share with you today I created for the Purple Pumpkin blog.  I wanted to show the change in Caitlin's wardrobe from all the pretty pink dresses to her new school uniform.

I've layered up a heap of Pattern Paper, Purple Pumpkin and Prima...

I know how you all love close ups, doilies, buttons and twine all teamed with Prima.  I love using the small Purple Pumpkin doilies as part of a flower cluster with a brad through the centre.

How yum is that Pink/Yellow twine, the perfect match to my colour scheme and the fussy cutting!

Now did you know that the next Purple Pumpkin sale is going to be held at 7pm on Friday 25th May?  Sneaks will be coming on the blog and face-book soon so be sure to put it in your diary - I have heard there will be some new goodies that you will just have to have!!

Yummy Scrap Colour Pallet #1 at Scrap Friends

Well hello there to you all.  I'm here today to share with you this fortnights challenge over at Scrap Friends.  You may recall at the start of the month we had our sketch challenge and that not only saw some inspirational ideas from the Design team, but also some absolutely fab entries!  Thank you to everyone who joined in!!!  This fortnight is what we call our "Yummy" challenge.  Yummy because it will always be based on a yummy inspirational picture - I have had a sneak peak of those ahead and ladies we sure are in for some sweet treats!!!... Here is this months....

For my take I have really featured the yummy blue/green back ground colour as the pictures I had already had a fair bit of pink in them. (I know, shocked aren't you!)

Check the chipboard doily I have not seen any like these before, so delicate and they come white so no need to paint.  I simply misted with Marshmallow glimmer mist for some sparkle.

and Prima of course...

Cute little stickers from Authentic - has words and phases.

and lots of fussy cutting :)

and now the full layout...

Yum on all accounts!!  I sure hope you pop over to the blog to see the rest of the DT's work and give this one a go.  There is a FAB prize up for grabs.

Mother's Day Inspiration

Happy Mothers day Mum!

Loved creating this layout of Nanna Borchers and Nanna Wruck taken in December last year at Caitlin's ballet concert.  She was so so proud to have both her Nanna's there to see her dance.  I was pretty proud too!

A stack of Craft Queen ribbon teamed with Kaiser paper and Manor House flowers.

and of course, for Mothers day, I wanted to make them each a card... and to stop any disappointment (not that there would have been any), I 've made 2 the same and just mixed and matched up the pattern papers :)  Close up first...

Love, love this Tulle... and the Rosebud ribbon.

Card One:

Card Two:

To all the Mum's out there, Happy Mothers day, I hope you have 2 minutes peace and are able to go to the bathroom uninterrupted!! :)

Purple Pumpkin Wall Canvas and more...

A quick blog today to show you my recent Purple Pumpkin creations :) now up on the Purple Pumpkin blog. First up is my very first go at a wall canvas - I made it for a friend who recently had a beautiful baby girl... I'm really happy with the result, especially love the background and how I could make it all really dimensional.  Going to give another one a go for my scrap room now.

Close ups of the Purple Pumpkin goodies...yum!

and I also made these 2 little bird cards - they have journalling blocks on them so I can use them for anything as the need arises.  Purple pumpkin buttons and twine and the mesh ribbon is craft queen.

Thanks for popping by.

First up is the sketch challenge...  You need to create a layout and entries need to be in by the 14th of the month.

Here is the sketch to use...

I rotated it so the strip was on the bottom.  Close ups first... I have a few this time!

and now the full layout.  Just love the colours and with the sketch to guide me this one came together so well.

One of the few shots I have of Easter this year - Caitlin just loves finding eggs!
